We actively support research using human hematopoietic stem cells and inducible pluripotent stem cells.
We also actively support the genetic modification of somatic cells for the purpose of correcting disease, treating disorders, or improving human health, so that we can provide cures that are widely acceptable in our pluralistic societies.
However, it is our policy that we will not use any fetal or embryonic tissues or cells in any of our research that are ethically controversial, nor participate in any collaborative research that uses such biological material.
We will also not participate in any research that aims to genetically modify the human germline.
